Choosing a domain name

domain namesA domain name is the web address (eg. www.yoursite.com.au) that allows people to access your website.

Your domain name should be easy to remember, not too long and should increase brand awareness.

In the past, many people registered domain names that contained popular keywords in order to get a better ranking in the search engines.

With Google's new algorithm changes, less importance is placed on the keywords in a domain name. Google recommends choosing a domain name that reflects your brand.

This could be your business name or a shortened version of your business name that is easy to remember.

If you are an Australian business, it is highly recommended that you choose a domain name that ends in .com.au. This shows that you are an Australian business and will get you listed in the Australian version of the Google search engine. If you choose a .com domain name, you will not be included in the Australian search results and you'll miss out on a lot of advertising exposure.

Our ecommerce website design package includes a free 2 year registration of a .com.au domain name ($49 value). You can pick your domain name when you place your order. The Australian Domain Name Authority requires you to have an ABN in order to register a .com.au domain name. You can easily register a ABN by going to the Australian Business Register.

If you already own a domain name, you can choose to use your own domain name for your website when you place your order. To point a domain name that you already own to your new ecommerce website, you will need to login to your domain name account and change the domain nameserver addresses. We will email you the domain name server addresses as soon as you place your order.

If you take advantage of our free domain name offer, we will setup your domain name and redirect it to your ecommerce website free of charge. After 2 years, you will be able to renew your domain name for $49 per 2 years.
